Bringing Edible Organic Gardening to Houston
Joshua Reynolds is one of the premier permaculture designers in southeast Texas and the founder and lead designer at Texas Edible Landscapes. He and his team of designers specialize in consulting and creating ecological designs of edible landscapes for clients that follow the principles of permaculture.
It all started in 2014 when he began to realize all the toxins that were in our food supply. He could not afford to buy 100% organic, so he decided to start a garden.
He started off by reading and following Mel Bartholomew’s square foot gardening method. That led him to discover permaculture and his wife, Angela, into herbal remedies and holistic eating as a way of maintaining health.
He studied under Geoff Lawton of the world-renowned Permaculture Research Institute in New South Wales, Australia, where he earned his Permaculture Design Certificate. He also completed secondary training here in the US as well and is currently pursuing continuing education including plant propagation, earthworks, appropriate technologies and aquatic systems.
He is creating a permaculture landscape on his 1/3 acre suburban homestead in the Greater NW Houston area and has put together a team of permaculture designers and educators and is currently setting up a permaculture education and demonstration site in Magnolia, TX.
In addition to the education site, where monthly workshops are taught, Joshua Reynolds specializes in the design of sustainable and ecological landscapes including edible landscapes, habitat, butterfly gardens, bee gardens, rain gardens and many other related landscapes.
He and his team of designers can design your entire landscape or just a segment of your property that you’d like to work with. He specializes in working within the restraints of a restrictive HOA and can still create a beautiful edible landscape that blends in with all the neighbors’ ornamentals.
After the design work is completed, his company, Texas Edible Landscapes can then implement the design if you desire, or leave the implementation for you to install. The key is the design. With the right design, custom tailored to your property and working within permaculture principles, success is the only option.
